July 12th - Double Trouble: Sawmill to Seashore
Take a pine woodland walk through the pages of history of the past two hundred years with Double Trouble Village State Historic Site Historian Andrew Anderson and former owning family member, Dan Crabbe, on Tuesday, July 12th from 7 to 9 p.m.
Patrons will learn from Mr. Anderson about the early sawmill and cranberry bog days of this well-known and uniquely named industrial operation, now a quietly popular forest trail destination for walkers, bicyclists and canoer/kayakers. Mr Crabbe will provide family stories and tales of life around the industrial village prior to its sale to the state for parkland in the mid-20th century.
Registration is required. This is an in-person event held at the John F. Peto Studio Museum, located at 102 Cedar Avenue, Island Heights, N.J. 08732.
Registration is online here. This is a joint presentation with the Toms River Seaport Society.
